Kazimierz Dolny

The Jewish settlement in the royal town of Kazimierz dates back to the early medieval times, possibly even to the beginning of the 11th century. In the time of the ‘golden age” local Jewish merchants floated and traded goods for a living. You can sense here an extraordinary ambience of Kuzmir shtetl, accompanied with nostalgic memories. This charming town was a shtetl, a community of Jews which observed the traditional practices and customs of Hassidic Jews, who once composed 80 % of local population. Kuzmir today became a summer destination for craftsmen and artists who can practice their art, and visitors happy to absorb the artistic ambience.
